WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
A Poem of Thanksgiving
The day has come
for us to share
the multitude
of bounty there,
Upon our table
now prepared
for friends and family
who will share.
And as we bow
our heads in prayer
we'll lift up those
still in despair,
Who haven't even
a fig to chew
yet still call in cheer,
“Happy Thanksgiving!“
to you.
Help us, O' LORD
by Your mercy and grace
to be ever humble
that we even have place
To gather in thanks
for the gifts from Your hand,
and never let us forget
Our hurting, fellow man.
A leg or a wing
a slice of breast or two
accompanied by stuffing
and yams, not a few.
Some hot mashed potatoes
with gravy to spare
a mountain of corn, and
we're almost there..
A pan of hot muffins
some cranberry sauce
pumpkin or mince meat
and coffee that's hot.
Now, wrap it all up
and go out on the streets
to find those who have nothing
for Thanksgiving to eat..
And, there, lay your offering
at the feet of these
For Christ hath said, What you do for them,
You have done for Me.
And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you,
'Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it to Me.' St. Matthew 25:40
I am thankful for my Authors Den Family!
May the good LORD fill your hearts with gladness
and your bellies with all His good things, Amen!
For it was I, the LORD your God, who rescued you.... Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things. Psalm 81:10
