I know not his whereabouts
Nor of his safety and needs.
He hides in nature's shadows awaiting
A light to guide him…resources to
Free him from this imprisonment.

His heart no longer sings
The songs that once brought joy…
Painful silence in his words
His once impassioned pen
Now begs for ink.

Entombed within four walls,
Emotionless and frail...
Clinging to a bastion of strength.
He has drawn from many times before,
He chooses to reject and ignore...
Mistrusting the sincerity of sweetest comfort.

Refusing to accept that another
Wants desperately to understand,
To recognize the devastation of life,
Defend the drive that pulls him through,
Acceptance without judgment.

Commiseration no longer allowed ,
His gaze is centered within, forgetting
That his is not the only life impacted
By loss of self and strength to love,
Compassion securely locked away
and emotion, scared and raw, with it.

He sits alone by midnight oil
Sleeplessly searching for answers …knowing
A listening, loving ear is only seconds away.
Pride keeping him from ten distance digits
Surrounded by his books, when arms could warm him
While he awaits return of spirit, plans his days.

Has he lost his will to love
In fear of bringing her to this darkened space
Where mere survival makes him question
And wish their eyes had never met, lest
She fall into this demon’s rhyme…
Or was it all within her control?

“How could she understand”, he cried
Admonishing as she professes love
To a man in a place she has never known.
Her life continuing in accustomed style,
Her only means of maintaining sanity.

And she, sickened with confusion
Finds mere composure a struggle,
swallowing tears drowning shards of her heart.
Ever after into day dream, enveloped in the
Fear of being forgotten, dreams left in limbo…
Abandoned by the very one whose own tears wept,
“I love you. Never leave me”.

Both are frayed with ache of loneliness…
His complicated, life imposed, and bleak,
While hers born of fear for her child and
A vow she will break compounded by
Disbelief that love could change so suddenly,
His voice becomming a distant memory…

And even that, once passionate and soulful,
Now cold, fatigued, impatient…indifferent
As he locks her too away… awaiting rainbow’s end
Though there are no answers in everyman’s prison,
Answers can only be found in the hearts
If strength is not compromised by fear.

Sweet nature holds no key …
It lies, still, within their souls apart…
Communication a positive common ground,
Once valued, treasured, no longer fills the air.
Pride set aside, line drawn in sand, accepting flaws
Yet questions that original, compelling bond.

When threatened by one’s very existence
Security rests in knowing another holds out her hand
While life’s complexities tangle with transition.
Accept it, but only if you are willing…it is just a hand.
It comes with no consequences or conditions
If grasped in the true spirit of love.

Seventy-five flawless precious stones (Lines) forming thirteen crowns (Strophes) set with the emotions of a heart that pumps Ichor and dictates sublime words to poetize life. "Acceptance Without Judgment"
has paid its dues to the treasure of Poetry.

what a very sad write--such desolation he is experiencing-my son struggles with pain pill addiction and this write reminded me of some of what he experiences and how that feels to those who love him-

This piece is full of deep compassion, heartbreak and sorrow. The symbolism of the outstretched hand holds the key to reconciliation and hope of healing. I know you have put your heart into this piece; I only hope that reconciliation between what has been and what is now, is complete. It reminded me of this quote I read recently: "There is in every true woman's heart a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity; but which kindles up, and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity." -- Washington Irving

I feel the torment of the soul here...how well you penned this piece of work, Taylor. I feel better things are ahead, but trust in the Creator is required. He has the master plan...He knows where each of us should be...of course. Since before we were born, that was established. I pray that this soul will soon let go and let God have His way.

"It comes with no consequences or conditions
If grasped in the true spirit of love."

True love can't be compromised. It IS or It isn't.This is a magnifiscently mastered verse written as with the pen from masters of yester year.

"If only's" are regressive and the pain never heals.

This is deeply poignant!

"Now cold, fatigued, indifferent, impatient"

My god, the horrid things that can happen to us, and how, in our blunderings, we affect others around us so negatively.

Just heart wilting Taylor
Food for the mind and soul from a very sensitive poet!

Taylor, this is utterly moving - on so many levels. Deserves several re-reads, and you give away so much of yourself in this one and for that, I thank you profoundly! -- Jeff

Taylor, I felt every word of this impassioned poem. Sad to say sometimes those we love are overwhelmed with their fears of losing control of situations, unbeknownst to their partners, due to lack of communication. It is a deep and enigmatic thing when men/women go into a shell of what they consider self-protection, for fear of being manipulated. A stalemate occurs because they will not communicate. A very troubling situation. Your poem speaks volumes of the inability to keep relationships going when one partner becomes silent. Beautifully written sorrowful dilemma...Hope it can be or has been resolved...eT

Very deep and intense composition...
Key passages for me " If strength is not compromised by fear ," and
" Communication a positive common ground ".....
When fear is dominant and communication is silent, then there can only be one outcome.....defeat
