The Face of an Angel

She looked up at me today,

As I bent to her to help,

With an assignment,

With which she struggled.

She looked up at me today,

This child full of arguments,

Quick to anger about one thing or another,

And lash out easily and with regularity.

She looked up at me today,

A soft, sweet smile graced her face,

And I saw right there, in the absence of angst,

The beautiful face of an angel.

The angelic tough of a poet writing from within the heart that beats her Uni-Verse within, onto the universe outside.

helping the hurt child... sometimes a thankless task, but, OH! the joy when you can glimpse eternity in their soul!

Love this ~
I had the same experience with my son today.
How, I wonder, can the moods change so quickly!

I did a one-semester internship in a Kindergarten class way back when I thought I wanted to be a high school teacher. Nap time was the best because all the little devels turned into angels when they were asleep.

Angels have many guises and are depicted in classic Art as harbingers of many woes as well as beauties... But it takes one to know one, Karen! Blessed are your eyes to see what you see - and to nurture and care for it/her. Love this, thank you. xx

One can only hope, Karen, and I hope it is an angel, not the other face that wins this battle she is in.
