Humming the "Sound of Music" tune, "A few of my favorite things" ........
Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string,
These are a few of my favorite things..
Cadillacs, cataracts, hearing aids, glasses,
Polident, Fixodent, false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things..
When the pipes leak, when the bones creak, when the knees go bad,
Then I remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad..
Hot tea and crumpets, and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food and no food with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things...
Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinning,
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinning,
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things...
When the joints ache, when the hips break, when the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad.

Enjoyed this much my friend, many ups and downs comes with life...seems every ten years things change, just got my first pair of bifocals the other day...ah! Wonder what other delightful thing will change with the forties! Enjoyed the write!

I'm so proud of you for accepting all of these and yet think this is "Life".
The fact of the matter is, we women are so versatile. We can adjust ourselves mentally and physically in any given situation.
I think we women have a lot to be proud for when we age. Sometimes, the wrinkles come with experience and weathered in life which one should be proud about to own.
As for the aches, take some aspirin and get rid of them.
Wow this is just splendid. When we write exactly the way we want and how we exactly feel then we all can relate or feel it. it is always an indeed pleasure to read your poetry especially ones with so much meaning and easy to understand. Keep writing and nevaer stop. Love Aleja Bennett.
