Rain, snow, wind, sleet
will not knock me off my feet.
Fire, fear, fiends, foes
But for the grace of god I go.
Ever onward, no retreat
Head on, our fate we meet.
This spark inside steels my will
never quiet, never still.
There is no place to run and hide
from the fire that burns inside.
Peace, justice, brotherhood
a champion of all that’s good.
So it is I say to you
this spark does burn inside you too!
Go you forth into the gathering gloom
And let your spark light the room.
That spark of kindness, hope and love
Will lead us onward and above.
For fire, fear, fiends and foes
Cannot withstand the spark’s bright glow.
Go you now among your kin
And spread the light that glows within.
The sparks grows stronger when it’s shared
Give of it freely to drown despair.
This doggerel’s bad, I know it’s true
But it’s my Christmas gift from me to you.
Merry Christmas 2005,
George C. Anderson Jr.
