You the one with chestnut hair
Shining like wet skin in sunlight
Eyes always the gateway of the secret of you
No one could quite penetrate
A waiting room where you kept the world
Echoed with laughter, screams, silence, dreams
Closer than most to you, I saw right on through
You were anything but what people knew of you
An enigma wrapped up in a puzzle, and tied with confusion
Pain was always there, a face war torn
Seemed almost proud as a soldier with the badge of courage
Blood stain already on your carpet
A thin red line kissing the metal
That oozed warmth like sunlight
While stealing the rays, slipping into the dark
Like a lover with ulterior motives
Cold and stiff the reality
Left behind on the cracking baked ground
Of deserted life
And I can still see you in the distance
Waving see-through on the horizon,
A mirage

A painful penn, a chameleon character is difficult to understand and eventually even bother with.. Hidden agendas are mental torture...
Cleverly done, using razor sharp metaphors..
Nice work...I like this expressive piece, showing the way one has enveloped themselves into the very heart and soul of another, really going deep to find the true identity of one who has hidden their true selves....
