The Escapist

I have touched this and that of you,
The stray man lost in a crowd
Of thought and fantasy, intangible possibility… stuck
Silenced by fears real, imagined, and smiling to scream
Holding it all in, trying to find oblivion in lands of F***
That give peace only to those who give themselves absolutely
That place I know well,
But this place I cannot fathom
Where I wonder why I accidentally found you & resolutely
Tried to know what even you do not know of you
Your eyes talked brazenly to me,
Saying too little & too much
Caressing the shell of you
the naked exposed illusion of openness
You showed your flesh but little else,
And called it bold to touch
Spiraling out into the great wide open space
Of your arms, I tried to find rest,
And for a brief moment
Everything was carved deep into the blankness of your face
Your grasp too uncertain and fearful to hold more
Than illusion, & could give out emotions only half felt
So I walked past the confusion stirring in you into
Other great wide open spaces my life has always dealt
While greater more complicated stories go untold
Unknown, you are the boy, the man, the wildness
Trapped unable to translate this inside into bold
To the words that must be typed capital letter loud
Ringing through all you are, choking your insides
Aching to be known, but terrified of discovery
