There is not enough of your tenderness
Or your kisses, or your time
To fill the emptiness of years in purgatory
All that is good, sweet, unspoiled,
Seems little more than fantastical illusion
Swept bright across the grey canvas
Of endless days & nights wrapped coldly in alone
Love a celestial thing that races
Across the skies of my heart like a comet
The orange white trail burns vivid but then becomes
But a memory as I stare into dark evenings
In the moments where the world is brightness
I want to steal each minute, each hour
Of this wonder, this unexpected beauty
As if I could capture the happiness within
To pull out when I am drowning again
In rivers of sadness that sweep away
Hopes and dreams and you
All I love fades away too quickly
So I treasure each time our skin touches
Each time our lips part to softly melt together
When our eyes meet & the world stops
So certain you’ll soon be gone to chase other dreams
As so often people think the grass is always greener
And the great wide open youngness of life calls
You out to feel free, to drink wildness straight
To chase illusions safer than all that is real
& I fear tomorrow could be anything but mine
Be always safe,
Karen
