In the world of work, flattery will get you everywhere, according to a recent study. Employees who flatter their bosses tend to receive better evaluations and move more easily up the corporate ladder – whether they deserve to or not. Based on the results of the study, it looks to be the case that political skills are highly reinforced out there in the work place. It is the politically astute who are more often promoted.

How does one get ahead in the world? A situation we all face. So our talents will be recognized; that we're given our just place. What must we do to improve our lot and all superiors dazzle? How best to achieve our ends? Do we work ourselves to a frazzle?
Most definitely not! What works is a little schmooz, Which if done in the proper manner, our destiny will choose. Even if bosses are wrong, never raise superiors' danders, That's how every chicken outfit works! There is no Pvt. Sanders!
Kids manipulate in Kindergarten; play Miss Crabtree like a fiddle, Others muddle through the class; achievement remaining a riddle. Some find being a teacher's pet is the key that success unlocks, And make it to the first grade, even after flunking sandbox.
Can education unlock the door? Success achieved by degrees? Enable a foot in the door? A crack thru which to squeeze? To do so is a heckuva task. Like paddling upstream sans oars, Unless one's degree is a Ph.D in Osculation, Posteriors.
Forget all about job knowledge. Massage all corporate egos, Latch onto your boss's coattails. You'll go as far as he goes. Be constrained by no principles. Not even the Principle of Peter. Not everyone can pull this off! That's why Peter is no leader.
So competence is not the key and incompetence doesn't matter. A task of rising in a corporate sense is just a simple flatter. A faster way to the top?....to blow this theory out of the water Is not discernible, unless it is to marry the boss's daughter.
Not only have written well, you've hit the nail on the head! The phenomenon you have written about has always been there, but I've notice that it has increased in recent years. The result is that the wealth of the country is moving toward the greedy top and go that cow down to the, often ignorant, leaders get ahead while hard-working stiffs with the ability are left behind or they are furloughed by outsourcing.
