My Dusty Country Road

A dusty road
by a field of corn.
A sticky heat
on this summer morn.

My feet are dirty.
Don't give a lick.
I'll wash 'em later
in the wooded crick.

To my left,
fields roll away,
dotted by
round bales of hay.

I drag a stick
Pulled from a tree.
Theres no place I'd rather be.

Then here,
in breeze that warms my skin
Blows thru my dress,
cotton thin.

And takes my troubles,
ease the load
on this,
my dusty country road.
