Ok, ok--so I got cold feet--had to break the engagement. It's not a crime you know...unless it starts a multi-state man hunt. (This one didn't!) LOL!

I’m so close I think
To finding the man
Who’ll make me go weak
Yet help me to stand

Who’s hand I will hold
In sickness or health
Who’s love I’ll return
In poverty or wealth.

I thought of it once
But married a fool
And since then I haven’t
Laid down my ‘cool’

To open my heart
To another someone
To let it escape
For passion’s sole fun

Still I am hopeful
That this one’s for sure
I’ve tested his mettle
And he’s proven sure

But now I must ask
Do I want to give in?
I’ve never known love
From this type of man

He wants life established
Very calm and secure
Can I offer him such
A heart so pure?

Hmmmmm...

I think I’ll keep looking
My feet are ice cold
I’m much too self-governing
And he’s really too bold!

What nerve to expect
So much from my life
I’m a poet, I think
But not yet a wife

And that is okay
Since poetry I like
Better than him
At least for this night!
