Well, Dick Clark is now a senior citizen.
The world’s ‘ageless’ teenager has finally decided that it’s time to part with his vast supply of memorabilia from his 50 years of American Bandstand, New Year’s Rocking Eve, and other television specials.
Since suffering a stroke in 2004, he’s been slowly recovering, and mostly out of the public eye. He’s insisted though on doing the New Year’s Rocking Eve shows, mostly due to their sentimental meaning to him. He’s loved being at/near Times Square when that big ball signals that the old year is gone, and the new year’s begun.
Among the items he’s collected are every issue of Life magazine, a beaded glove from Michael Jackson’s moonwalk days, and a guitar once owned by former Beatle, Paul McCartney.
He also has the first microphone he ever used on an American Bandstand episode…
Talk about sentimental!
In any case, I guess the sentiment is justified. How many of us will smile when we think of the good times we had watching Dick Clark—and those dancers…
