What is inside and how does it stay there, in what form? Memories, emotions, good or bad times. There is curiosity and yet, I would feel that there is boundary which should be respected... Great ending E T, because at least we know what we have inside.

This is truly beautiful and wonderfully stated, Eileen; one of your very best for its heart-stopping poignancy and emotional candour. The bottom line is that we yearn for honesty and integrity in our most significant of relationships - yet fear it at the same time, perhaps. But this is a fearless foray - and not confrontational, and that's what makes it so effective. There are those we carry within the minute folds and creases of our heart and hippocampus - and they are necessarily the ones from which we want to see our own selves reflected back. Yet, as you say, what is their reality - and ours? Does "the you I think I know" reflect a me that I might recognise if I exist at all within him/her? All our hearts and minds are spinning kaleidoscopes like mirror balls, forever changing yet a constant mass. We could debate the pulse and rays of this poem line by line for hours... Thank you for presenting it to us in such a thought-provoking way. You rock! :)) xx

Do you know yourself well enough, to know and see yourself in him, when you do see yourself? The picture we paint of ourselves, is not always the picture others see of us. Truth of heart and mind, what a novel concept, it would be refreshing if most of the human species found it, and practiced it. Pure at heart, pure love, unconditional, maybe from a pooch. Bless ya! This is so spot on, Eileen. How many times have we wondered if that person who haunts us and seems to live within us at all times feels or carries any part of us with them, also. There are so many parallels and the sense of that person being ingrained in us so strongly that it is more than difficult to believe that they too don't feel us as we feel them. It certainly would be a little scary to ask or to venture inside their mind because what if that "if" proved to be less than what we were hoping for.
