A sword age, a wind age, a wolf age. No longer is there mercy among men.”
Snorri Sturluson
I stand upon
A jagged cliff
Above an angry sea,
The same sea
That brought me
Here
So long ago.
The wind howls
The waves crash below
I am in my element,
For I am a Norseman,
Yet I am cursed to
Remain here
For all time,
For daring to love
A druid's daughter.
I do not regret
Our time together,
Only that I could not
Rescue her from
Those who sacrificed her
On the alter of
Their madness,
Or that I cannot seek my revenge
Upon her father.
Until the day arrives
When she returns to me,
Or time itself reaches
Its end,
I am denied entry
Into Valhalla, and
Must haunt this shore,
Awaiting my destiny,
Yearning for her
And yearning for my home
Across a tumultuous sea.
Hauntingly beautiful. I can imagine a warrior trapped like that by love.

To navigate the seas by the sun when it was cloudy, they used a special quartz glass that allowed them to view the sun through clouds. They probably were the first to settle in North America long before Columbus arrived in 1492.

This is a sentimental and epic story about a young man, injured in the Viewnam War, who returns to Dallas, Texas, in 1964, and begins rebuilding his life. Set against the rock and roll era of the early 1960’s, when casual sex and recreational drugs w
