Pretty Doors
are best when closed,
their paint and poise folded,
or so they say,
but not today.
Today one blew right open
and past the artistry
one sees
pain and strife
not what you'd think,
lessons burned
into a soul
that on the outside
shone like gold

yet what stunned
the surprised viewer
helped the owner
to see clearer
what she has
within her self
proud, she adds another
shelf
inside her home,
inside the lessons,
earned like badges,
just confessions.
It's OK
her heart has opened,
even as her door
she closes.

Knock, knock
knock, again
you may be surprised
my friend,
when Pretty Doors
open to find
what will surprise
with what's behind them.

Nicely done, Rose. Interesting perspective on doors; to me, symbolically meaningful. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Interesting and poignant concept, Rose. Doors, as does the heart, will open to reveal -- close to exclude, may surprise us everytime. I really enjoyed reading your work.

Carmen :-)
