Words fall off your lips like razors,

cutting right to the quick,

while the favor

makes me laugh 'til I'm sick

and makes for

lively attacks of wit

I savor,

you catch the  memories

I forget, again,

I shine them up really nice 'til they lend

light to the ideals  I pretend

aren't mine,

'til your look makes me think again......

You eat way too much sugar,

you'd think it'd rub off on your candor,

but what I forget softens with laughter

brought in with empathy you capture

somehow on all your smart-ass leads

that fracture

my insecurities....

My new words small, somehow fit

your razor-sharpness

with quickened wit,

your favor ups my i.q. a bit?

Ok, well, I can hope that it's this

that favors me,

while my last rhyme,

you catch with your mitt,

reminding me I

am so lucky to have you as my

new, old friend,

please stay a long time,

or just 'til the end....
