This poem is in my book, Odes to Kith and Kin.

I woke up in the dark of night,
with deep, deep fear and sorrow.
Then I heard these still, sweet words,
"A new day dawns tomorrow."

The day had been an intense one,
my time was spent in stressing.
This mind of mine was overtaxed,
and really tired of guessing.

I went to bed, forgetting You,
not letting You inside.
I thought that with a little sleep,
my eyes would open wide.

The still, small voice within my soul,
would not let my rest be calm.
It bade me rise and face my fears,
saying, "Your prayers shall be your balm."

I knelt down at my bedside,
with tears from a humble heart.
I lifted my needs to You,
knowing that it was a start.

I felt an easing of my pain,
my spirit soared anew.
I got back into bed once more,
to sleep the whole night through.

Remember when you're feeling low,
and can't find peace or rest.
Just lift your prayers to Jesus Christ,
for He will stand the test.
