It struggles to the sand and finally through its shell the sea turtle leaves its shelter behind;
The cocoon provided shelter and kept it warm, but the butterfly frees it and leaves it behind;
Scratching on the rocks and across the rough land, the snake discards it’s armor and leaves it behind;
The hermit crab goes from shell to shell or home to home seeking something grandeur I suppose, kicking off the old one and leaving it behind;
Is that how you saw me? Is that what it was, the struggle was too difficult, the closeness too much?
Did my arms hold too tightly, did my love bind you with touch?
Or was it just my time to be left behind?

Very sad poem. Nature intended the lives of snakes, caterpillars and hermit crabs that way but I doubt natures intent was for humans. Bless You Always, Paul.
