Thoughts on the bombings in London, 7th July 2005

Three trains, a bus, and lives destroyed
yet still the English carry on,
and London honours all her dead
by refusing to grant the terror authority.

Origins from around the world,
faiths and religions too many to name,
together suffering pain and death
proving the melting pot of the realm.

Shame that such cowards target the innocent.
Shame that they do not stand and face
those to whom they offer only pain.
Shame that such cowards are also so ignorant,
Unrealising of the strength their victims gain.

Sad that they are exploited by other cowards,
those who profess the honour of dying whilst killing,
yet they themselves hide from justice and do not take part
leaving only the lowly to carry out attacks.

And then they claim retaliation for innocents deaths in Iraq,
Yet they are the ones who are bombing their own,
afraid that the people wanting freedom will see through them,
needing to keep them under control.

Yes they may have bombed London, but they won’t find weakness.
They may kill Iraqi civilians to stop them being free,
but ultimately the war will be won by the love of the people.
Everyday people.
People like you and me.
