Bodies withering with wrinkled skin,
three aged men speak to the camera
which does not lie,
but shows their frailty.
They reminisce, joke, and ponder
almost as amazed as if
the past really wasn't;
as if it had all been but a dream.
Thirty years have passed since,
in peak physical composition,
these three sailed forth
on a voyage of a different sort.
Like science fiction pioneers,
they paved the way,
into man's final frontier.
All faith in God,
when high above the Earth,
they looked back
and saw that it was good.
Three men,
of flesh and blood,
and human frailty
of courage and fears,
bonded by an experience
almost a lifetime ago.
To them,
and countless others,
do we owe a debt of gratitude.
Thanks,
for allowing us to see their miracle,
and to feel that,
for one small moment,
it was ours.
