Forgetting words travels fast in the hills
He slips away
Forsaking her
Yesterday she was a fire burning in his heart
He swore before taking her
They would never part
As she watches kin folk
Carry him to his grave
She chokes up
Hearing his children’s tears
Knowing his wife
Never will forgive
Go with God she whispers still
Never to scorn another heart in these hills
