In this world of toil and struggle, we sometimes get snowed under by our own concerns; so to those with concerns I say...
Why Worry?
When troubles keep on piling up
And foes set out to harm you,
And when each day you seem to find
More problems to alarm you,
You need to think about your life
And all the joys attending
For all those wondrous things add up
To happiness unending.
A mother's love, a sweethearts kiss
Among those joys a-plenty,
A message on a birthday cake
When you were one and twenty;
A tender face, a soft embrace;
The friendships you still cherish;
A host of happy memories
For mem'ries never perish.
There may have been a loving wife
and children's happy chatter;
A family outing to the beach;
These are the things that matter.
Now as you ponder on these things,
In time they will begin to
Fill empty places in your heart
And long remain within you.
You may be down, you may be broke,
Your body may be brittle.
Against the joys that you have had,
These things seem very little.
For as you think on pleasures past,
You'll find your cares will scatter,
And leave a space that you can fill
With things that really matter.
Oliver,
Thank you for reminding us that all is not lost, that no matter what our struggles are the good still outweighs the bad. I've been going thru a difficult time and this poem helped me, Oliver. There's alot of wisdom in this poem. Our problems seem small compared to things that bring us joy and happiness. Outstanding poem, my friend.
He Keeps Me is a devotional journey of revelation and insight birthed out of prayer.Searching the Word of God revealed the many ways that He has kept me and continues to keep me. Each day is an opportunity to recognize that God is mindful of you, eve
