I only wish that I could span
the wide chasm
that leads from summer into fall.
But I can only wait for you
as summer's warmth
gives way to autumn's hue.
Then as all the colors reach
their height
and slowly fade away
I'll still be watching--
But from a cold and icy winter's day.
As I pass beyond the seasons,
and this life on earth is gone,
I'll save a bright spot for your soul,
and sit forever listening to your song.
