Frustrated, I wonder why you make me so upset,
Because the innocence of your mind is something I have never seen,
The incomplexity of the way you think seems so child-like,
So juvenile and immature, not that of the man I see.
Then I realize that it is not wrong to be so naïve,
That life in your eyes is so simple, and uncomplicated.
That we can live our lives trouble-free, without worry or anger,
And it hits me that where you are at is on a deeper level,
One that most people do not reach,
You have mastered the art of fortitude,
My man,
God’s gift.
Never have I seen someone so patient,
Enduring,
Unwearied,
Serene.
Your heart is like an open vessel, waiting to be used at the discretion of whoever chooses to employ it.
I watch the altitude of tolerance that you have for people,
And I wonder,
How could one be so long-suffering,
Uncomplaining,
Forgiving,
And I sit in awe at the thought of
My man,
God’s gift.
The other half of me you are not,
But the second whole that makes us one, you are.
For I have none of the qualities you possess, and you have none of the traits I inhabit,
So I sit and ponder the intellect of our Creator,
How He can bring together two opposites and make them one,
Delicately putting the missing pieces of the puzzle together, to form something remarkable,
Us.
Ashamed, I think about the way I act toward you at times,
The manner that I have being completely contrary to yours,
But the voice of our Maker tells me to lift up my head, to not be humiliated,
Because He brought us together to compliment each other,
And what I lack in serenity, you make up inclusively,
My Man
God’s gift.
