Remembering Grandmother

In a moment of meditation a
thought occured to me
How events repeat themselves.
As I sat in my wicker rocker,
Gently moving to and fro,
My glasses sat aside and
My knitting on the floor,
Gazing out the window to
Watch the happy scene
I realized I was where my
Grandma once had been.

Her hair was brushed with silver
and her eye sight had grown dim
Her mind was full of memories
of how, what, and when
Her children were all little
And gandpa was about
chores were to be tended
And life sometimes was hard,
But the sound of childrens laughter
ringing in the yard
And rosy cheeks and tousled heads
tucked in safe at night,
And Grandpa there beside her
Made it all seem alright.
Now here am I, I smile as I watch
the children play
I think about my grandma back
in her day
Rocking in the wicker rocker
gently moving to and fro,
thinking of the many thing
that happened long ago.
and gazing out the window to
see my granddaughter laugh with glee
I know as years go by
she'll follow after me,
In the wicker rocker
gently moving to and fro.

Thanks for taking me back in time. How much simplier life was then when our Grandparents were raising their families. Outstanding write, Bo. I enjoyed this very much.
