My brown skin is not as radiant as the sun.Is it dull and lacks luster
You ridicule me because of my brown skinYou say I am too dark
I say you’re too light
You call me an ugly black child because of my brown skin
But I say that my brown skin makes me a beautiful black child
With hopes and dreams to be fulfilled
My brown skin does not define me as an
Ignorant black woman
I am intelligent and full of ideas.
My brown skin does not classify me as lazy I am a working black woman
That provides for herself
I am comfortable with my Brown skin
Why are you not?
I am beautiful, strong, sexy, intelligent and happy . . .
I am your worse nightmare
You can not put me down or bring me down Because of
My brown skin
It’s mine
And I wouldn’t change
A thing about
My Brown Skin!
Though you show no picture, it is obvious that you are a beautiful, dark woman. God bless you and all the color in your soul. I love writing like this, by the way.
It always boils down to a matter of perspective. You capture that here clearly. It's always amazing to me that these kinds of battles still rage in our society.
Light and Wisdom ...
i remember once asking my daughter for some reason about a little black girl in her class and she said there were no black or white children, only pink and brown...we put way too much emphasis on the words. i thoroughly enjoyed your poem
