Love which comes in all its forms and how we are made captive to it. We who are the children of Lady Venus.
Lady Venus
Those of us cherubs
Who were born in heaven
Under your sign of weight of the heart
We who have been endowed
With much love to give.
You being a goddess most generous
Feeding and who giving much to her children.
Love is your chief gift freely given and also can be freely taken away -
At your will.
With it comes much joy in the morning and then
With it also comes much sorrow in the night.
Whichever way your gift comes to us
It exacts its penalty with no regard
To anyone whom you have blessed it with whether
It be for good or whether it be
For the deadly worse.
Your gift of love takes no prisoners.
Misuse of your gift makes retribution in your eyes
Swift and sure and the suffering that results from you
Makes lovesickness something enjoyabale but mixed out with
Loathesomeness of spirit and makes ill at ease all at the same time.
With your partner Cupid you arrow shoots at will whom it may devour.
We mortal creatures so unsuspecting fall as your victims and the consequences
Who can tell what they bring? but just that we are the sheep
Ready for the slaughter come what may we are the naive children enjoying our play and so that because ignorance is no excuse with experience feelings far above Of who and what we really are.
Save me Lady Venus from your snares and bitten love pangs and
Rescue me from the helpless lovesickness I experience with every moment of my
Waking days and my sleepless nights where I wonder what will be next on your
Agenda and how will my heart feel the drag in the expectations of unknowingness.
It's that old feeling in my heart called love of which I am under its potent spell.
Misuse of your gift makes retribution in your eyes
Swift and sure and the suffering that results from you
Makes lovesickness something enjoyabale but mixed out with
Loathesomeness of spirit and makes ill at ease all at the same time
