A mothers thoughts

As a mother, I begged, don't go to war
But you were young and so naive
And you paid the ultimate price my son
Now you lie in a heroe's grave

So you did your duty, you became a man
And your service was near complete
But you're body lay all broken up
In a litter filled Bagdad street

These men that sent you off to war
Join their families on Christmas day
But in our home sits an empty chair
And empty it will stay

So don't be hasty in going to war
Because war is never fair
Its just the ones that die in vain
Who will miss the their proper share

They lie beneath a clay filled grave
No more to laugh or cry
And as I sit in my lonely home
I ask the reason's why

Cause' its easy to be a patriot
When you're free from the firing line
And sending young men to their graves
May help your cause just fine

But a mother's son you are my boy
Even though you've gone away
And a mother's son you will remain
Till you're mother's dying day
