A man from an oppressive future travels back in time to change history.

Every minute, day and night,
I'm just trying to get out of this place.
Where men are nothing but pawns to be played
pitted against themselves.
And whenever it seems we're close to the end,
to finding an answer, or just nearing rest,
it all comes back in our faces.

We seek to be free
but we're bound in the chains
of this society.
No way out can be seen
by those of us in bondage.
I need to break down this reality
see if I can make it
the way it was always
meant to be.

So I strike now
fighting the foes of tomorrow
in the yesterday.
Flying back through centuries
to challenge the grandfathers of slavery.

I hurtled back to save us all
make certain when you’re young
you'll never know you came
close to the fall.
But here I find the foes of tomorrow
coming back to make it wrong.
Here they seek to destroy me
and rewrite history again.
I cannot let their plans come to fruition.

But it's so hard to fight
even though I know it to be right
when I'm alone and cold
in a world unknown.
If only I could find
your warming touch.
Though you are yet to be
I fight so that we may be free
tomorrow.

So I don't have to hesitate
knowing you're in reach.
Once I'm done with this horrible world
we'll be together again.

But now they're closing in
the foes that'll do me in.
If I don't make it back,
please remember my plight.
Dear, you know I've done it
all for you
the freedom, the liberty,
Without you I’m a slave,
regardless.
Just hang on to me when I'm gone
and you'll know I'll live free
no matter where I've gone.

Still they're closing in
the foes that'll do me in.
Their knives of light stab at my flesh
but I know I tried my best
to free us all from the future that's grim
and lifeless.
Here in the past I know I die not in vain.

So I strike back
trying to fight the foes of tomorrow
in the yesterday
I fly back through the centuries
to challenge the grandfathers of slavery.
But they'll all sleep soundly tonight.
