Land Beyond The Sky

We once had such dreams, and actually tried to make them reality. Yet, now we have fallen asleep, and no longer seek a life beyond the sky. Take what you will from these few humble words.

Beyond the sky
we reached so high.
Once our dreams
became manifest reality,
but where are we now
and what have we become?
Will we ever again
reach for that forgotten land?

So far it seemed,
the impossible dream,
as we took the first steps
outside our infancy.
But now we reside
back in the womb
hiding from our destiny.

All that is here,
all that is near
and dear
will fade away,
and die.
No matter how hard we try
to keep things alive,
or the same,
global death will arrive.
No individual or government,
no evironmental policy
will stop the inevitable end.
The distant future
will approach,
we know not when.

Yet beyond the sky
we can survive,
if only we try
to leave our childhood behind
and strive.
Stop digging a grave
and embrace the land
beyond.
