If love were an anchor,

Would be they, my feet

Chained to your heart

As I attempted to step –

If life were a chain,

Then my spirit, would

It be left to never

Depart forsaken travel –

If the air I breathed,

Was inadvertently dropped

To the floor, would

You be so kind –

If the sky I gazed,

Happened to be misplaced

Then what would take

The place –

If the ground I stepped,

Was swept away, then

Journey, how would I

Without wings –

If love were a release,

Would be they, my feet

Chained to your heart

In freedom as I stepped –

I have always considered freedom to be the great illusion of our time. We have so many things which are structured in our society. We're born, go to school, choose a vocation, and yada yada yada...

For me, this poem speaks to the angst for the lack of freedom. Perhaps we have it in small things. Yet how many of those things are reliant upon the actions of others? Hard to say.

Nicely done!

Freedom is essential to me and I would not stay in a relationship where freedom did not come to me. I love to be myself and go about my placings and travels without being held back.

Hi Deborah, I read your poem "Freedom". I found it touching and deep. Love is undefinable. It is or it is not. That is what I gather from this piece of writing. Great work! Please feel free to visit my site here in the "Den"

Your words ring out so true to so many people out there. The way you describe this love is very powerful and hopefully if someone feels they are chained and bound--one day they will get the courage to realize that love can be so much better than this.
Very thought provoking poem--really makes you think about love in this manner.

That's hot! It's a crying frying shame love isn't as great as you described it. But I guess as you said we have to take steps and as we take those steps we will eventually learn to break our chains and fears of love. Only then will we find freedom and that perfect harmony like two footsteps in beach's sands that wait to be washed over by Love's incoming tide. Outstanding Sista!

This is an interesting point of view that leaves one to ponder just a bit more after reading it. The words are placed so, that one almost must read between the lines to gain the full meaning of this poem. Rhoda

Deborah,

I love this. Love can never be binding as chains. It must have a power and freedom of it's own and if it does then it certainly can fly. Bless You, Paul.

Feedom within love is at times like chains and loss of ground and yet it is as the heart...embedded within the physical as love does when it is real...

an interesting view of thought...

nice....
