While it is entirely possible, I don't think that it is fracking like so many others do. The Midwest has been known for earthquakes in the past. They are rarer than on the Pacific coast, but they do happen.
My concern about any oil and gas operation is the pollution in the aftermath that never seems to be fully cleaned up by the exploiters who understand only the profit and not true cost.
If drilling causes quakes looks like there would be quakes everywhere there is drilling. Haven't heard of anymore, except maybe in California, and they have the strictest drilling permits in the world.
