Awakening


adorned in liturgy
obscurity offers a grieving silhouette
from war re-enactments
to ancient landscapes on silk
the saints are off to a strong start
romantics and modernists
confront conformity
mothers frocked in worry and remorse
drowning babies in bath water
be vexing the contemplative life of nuns
husbands in hibernation dreaming of
bygone days as star quarterbacks
when life was just a
winning smile and a wink
luminous loomed in back alleys
flaunting "Le fin du monde" meaning
"End of days" for those of you who
lack foreign tongue atrocities
APOCALYSE NOW!!!
the grim reaper is recasting tragedy
the last place you'd look
is to your family
Hollywood predictably posts
"Award Nominations Sought"
overpaid big screen gurus complain
complacently proving joy can be bought
in contemporary galleries youthful
indiscretions all on display
degree granting school programs
serving two dimensions: the elite and the elite in training while the rest
of us prepare to go to war threading
rustic landscapes and colorized
technological man made sublime
abstract elements alcoves offering a
window into expressive sensibilities
akin to a clock work muse
paint overs and corrections reveal
insignificant lives longing to live!
There's a calm soothing serpentine mind
amongst the debris,
staring through a window in the sun
watching the morning dawn.
