Someone said that in Wyoming
That a body could recover from
The N.Y. blues that leaves your
Soul so dry.
I bid farewell to Montauk
And the sadness in her eyes
Knowing somehow that I never
Would return.
Now the skies over Green River
Somehow are not that different
And the losing end remains the
Losing end.
Some days I’d trade my highway shoes
For a key to the door back home
But the past is smoke
And the locks beneath the clay
I often think of Montauk
Though the photo is all lined now
Knowing somewhere, some days
Montauk thinks of me
Walking back in our minds eye...back to where our roots still thrive...we can always feel a connection, no matter where we flourish, flower, fruit...or even die...Montauk is a part of you~

Alas Yoruk, I found thee. We must be on the same wave length? You think??? So sad, but I know the feeling. It's calling you back, isn't it???? She is in your blood, you know you must return........
Montauk is one of my favorite places ... i can empathize with your sadness ... you poem captures the remorse of leaving it ... it appears that for you, Montauk is literally the end ...
Love this dark write of life - once yours -
