This was inspired by a painting of the same name by Diane Savino, an incredible artist who is disabled by an auto-immune illness like myself, and whose art really speaks to my heart. I couldn't find this painting online, or a website for her, which is really annoying as I would love to add a link for all to see her incredible work.

Drawn by gold and gothic things,

Vibrations when the church bell rings,

Echoed grace when a choir sings--

You nested on the sill.

Curiosities chosen with the best of earth,

Ribbon red, bluest gem, a marble for its mirth,

Wound around, this one place bound, for a baby’s birth--

Where all is calm and still.

High stands the feather while low the leaves,

Monarch angels pass where love believes,

Face closed in to thwart cruel newborn thieves--

With both claw and bill.

Pink’s jubilant blooming a glorious sight,

Held close together, protected and tight,

Until each delicate bird its heart-song takes flight--

A mother’s greatest thrill.

Nesting explored with a poet's compassion Michelle. My favorite from among your many talented renderings my dear friend. "Nest" is filled with the primal simplicity of motherhood and survival of species. Yet bountiful with elaborate semantic sketches I can easily envision. I bid you love and peace. Jon Michael

Beautiful and poignant poem! It would be so great to see the painting but you paint the words so well :)
Be well,
Christine

Reminded me of the wren that nested in my hanging fern. I can visualize the nest in the bell tower without the painting.
