i saw her on the far end of a short road,
pale blonde dust in her sandy hair,
blowing with the wind like a sail
on a beautiful vessel silently skimming
over the waves of the hot sun,
bouncing off the scorched path
beneath her feet.
when fate found her way in front of my face,
her green eyes sparkled reminding me of
the glimmer off a cold green glass beer bottle,
dripping sweetly with sweat that made the cotton fabric
of her white t-shirt cling pleasantly
against her conceiled natural beauty.
her softly shaped pink lips parted
as she said Hi in a voice so sensuously tender
i fell under the spell of her on sight
and followed her to the river.
we lay down on the bank,
hunting through rock and stone,
finding simple treasures
that no one else would have noticed at all,
for they were too busy running
over the magical world below.
but not us -
we lay down side by side,
consuming all of the wonders
laid before us on a quilt
of earth and sky,
mending with the elements
from which all of us were born,
and then she took me in her arms,
and two whisperers became one.
with gentle purposeful motion,
she rose up off the bed,
she tossed off her clothes
and held out her hand,
raised me up,
undressed me,
walked me past the river's edge.
in the cold rushing waters of
a texas stream with
hills all around us,
nothing but trees,
sunset sinking beneath the limestone,
in synch with the sounds of nature singing
sweet and low
she pleasured every bit of the woman in me
and left me with a lifetime memory,
a romance like I have never known
or ever dared to believe.
