just another day in the neighborhood

She sat by the window

watching the birds fly

wishing she was on

the oustide.

He sat in the driveway

looking into the window

watching her watch the birds fly

wishing he was on the inside.

It sat on the fence post

balancing on the blunt end

sturdy but vulnerable

hoping not to get knocked over by the wind

wishing for a helping hand.

They sat on the front porch

sipping their cold brew

wondering what had become of

their youth

not feeling their age but

wishing they still looked as good.

We sat on the curb

talking about how everything

would be far less complicated

if we were on a beach in Mexico and

wishing we'd win the lotto.

Good one Jackie friend! Love the playfulness in the first two strophes. Can't do anything, it seems, in this world, without bloody money. And we spend so much of our lives pursuing it. It does represent a certain kind of freedom though. I think about 95% of the people where I work dream about winning the lotto.
Blessings ...

Ah yes. It has been said, "If wishing were horses..." or something like that I think. Thanks for sharing. Love and peace,

Regis
