A Ribbon Caught In The Afternoon Wind

An inspirational moment between us ....

a ribbon caught in the afternoon wind

drifting in the ebb and flow of  gusts that roll,

taking a ride from the sill off the seventh floor

on a day when time was and is again

a silk blue kiss against the houston skyline,

dancing a ballet between bridged towers

and swirling like the rich aroma from

an uncorked bottle of wine.

rising over newly erected cubicle homes,

house of cards resting on

dusted dreams and slight of hand,

concrete and asphalt in place of land,

except for a maze of forest green

protruding from frames in the sidewalk

where i sit with you,

the fabric makes its way through,

gingerly falling in the air,

grazing my cheek

- i quiver at its touch -

and finally resting on my shoulder.

laughter shakes the silence,

perfect timing in an already perfect day,

your eyes sparkling brightly

as my smile gives everything away,

no need to hide a thing,

no need to make a move,

for all is as it was meant to.

 lovingly your hand reaches into

waiting waves of hair,

braiding locks and fingers and indigo threads

into a tightly wrapped chord between

whispered breaths that

move over my skin like the sun

 and soar as freely as

a ribbon caught in the afternoon wind.

Riveting and I could so easily picture the two lovers sittin on a balcony sipping wine on a warm day as that tiny bit of ribbon floats on an air current to whisper of the promises made

Look Away Silence by Edward Patterson

Martin Powers wanted an ironing board for Christmas. Instead, he got . . . Matthew Kieler, a non-returnable gift, but a gift that kept on giving. A powerful tale of survival, compassion and unapologetic love in the time of AIDS.

Another Way of Being by Sion Liscannor

A (shockingly) truthful autobiography with elements of fantasy, philosophy, and historical fiction.
