Revenge is an unusual guest.
It brings with it such sorrow.
It leaves one person with happiness
And another longing for tomorrow.
Revenge is oftentimes sweet.
The enforcer feels accomplished
With satisfaction at his feet.
Yes, revenged is something to relish.
Revenge is a natural reaction,
But it causes one to act irrational.
It forces another to take action.
Revenge is nothing sensual!
Revenge, some say, is based on the fear
Of losing control and being totally lost.
The enforcer’s pride is at stake here
And her enemy must pay the cost.
Revenge can drive a person to madness
And without cause, hurt a naive soul.
Revenge can be one’s path to wholeness
While the means to that end is cold
The best thing about revenge
Is that it can backfire and explode!
The enforcer gets it in the end
Because he reaped what he sowed.
A lesson in rhyme and reason, Sharon...reminds me of the Kevin Costner movie 'Revenge'. This is a well thought-out piece of poetry...like written from someone who has been on the receiving end of revenge.
