We need to stress to our children that our parent's / their parent's friends are not our's / their's.

My Father’s Best Friend – Not Mine

By April Sims

My mom and dad were not home when I let him in

He had been here many times before

He was my dad’s best friend

But this time he was different

I told him my parents would be home soon

And that is when he came and sat next to me

Breathing his whiskey latent breath on me

Whispering in my ear how pretty I was

And how good I smelled

As the tobacco and alcohol smell nearly turned my nose inside out

Then he started rubbing on me

And touching me like never before

I became scared and wished I never opened that door

Just then I heard a key in the door

He quickly got up and sat across from me

And then

He put his index finger up to his lips

And whispered to me never tell

And then took his finger across his neck

From fear I never told my parents

And I never opened that door again

an unfortunate occurrence that goes on much too often ...

Perhaps you should have opened your mouth and told your parents what had transpired. He might not have been a friend to your parents after that. You have written a very delicate piece that was kept locked inside, but not forgotten....

Be safe,
Karen

NOOOO BLOODY WAY, I'VE ONLY JUST REALISED THAT SUCH goes on...
I just know there is something we can do, never understand this, maybe all kids should have a panic button?

This is a story of traumatic uselessness, if the victim doesn't tell. Fear kept this secret, but such a drunken fool will go on to harm others, if not exposed. The young girl fears for Dad, too, and what he might do to this friend. The telling should be to Mom, or another older woman.
Please believe, there are still good and harmless men who are friends of Dads. A question: Would a young girl have told, if she saw the friend steal money from her parents? A crime is a crime, even if not taken to a harming level.

Who can we trust? This probably happens frequently in homes where parents are unsuspecting, and its so sad. Seems the only way to protect our children is to never let them out of our sights. What a terrible prison for decent folks to have to be on guard all the time against perverts hurting their children.

My heart hurts for all the children who have lived(living) through this pain of being betrayed and having to keep the secret.

Kids should not have to keep creepy secrets. HUGS and LOVE...my best friend had an Uncle who forever tainted me for trying to kiss me...I was never the same "innocent" kid after that. BRAVO...great poem.

(((April))),

Deep pain here: I'm sorry you had to endure this. A warning, indeed: perhaps it will save lives and sanities.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :(
