The evening’s red light, the sun,
Made trees bright and yellow and green.
And in the twinkling airy wind,
The swirling Copper Beach
Was tall and beautiful
And almost black against the sky.
Two figures passed, and certainly
Loving hands held a double prayer
Of silent admiration—yes!
Passing through the Summer-garden
Of their world, built not easily—
They said only pleasing things to each other:
For there and then they knew
Not to break the spell.
