When I miss him most, I walk on the beach. Memories are always clearer there on the sun-warmed sand, where the wind plays in my hair and I can allow myself to remember.
Our love had been so like the sea and its waves, but waves of thunderous heartbeats, uncontrollable as an undertow and us, as powerless in its grip,
each crest higher than the last, building to a final peak then slowly down again, the currents teased our own bodies home, like a neap tide, our passion also spent.
now I welcome low tide shadows -- not those on sand but here, inside a memory.
CJ, Your first stanza, reminds me of your thoughts I see in your bio pic...!
a wonderful intro to your "Seaside Memories"
The second...You show the depths of your Love~ the power of no boundries, but then in the third, you Crash, like a wave, over and over, and over again until the power subsides, but only within for you desire now, less emotion...tiring of it's wave but clinging to it's powerful passions still...
What an excellent write! Made me sad, with a smile...
Love and Peace~

Beautiful, CJ. Memories are precious. Yes, they can make us sad, too. Still, without them we may well lose the past. Hang on to yours, even though painful at times, they are your way of holding you two together in a time that was. Hope this makes sense. :)

I find it so compassionate to write on sad memories. Our life is sad at times and this brings forth such sadness with great excellence. But let's not forget the happy times. Victor
"now I welcome low tide shadows

but here inside a memory."
Crux-ily, I love the pathos of these lines! 'Shadows lie where light once rose.' Maybe 'arose', I'm not sure, a rose seems ground boundaried, non-specific to the sense of 'Seaside Memories'.
CJ this is so vibrant and rife with images of how the ocean speaks to, and effects us. It seems we all love being by the sea it evokes many memories.. Beautiful poem!... ET
Coudl have been written by Deborah Kerr on the set of From Here to Eternity. I love the seaside, too. Things are so much more relaxed living by the shore. :-))
The ocean spray and the power of the tides always gives me twilight reflections of love too. Poets are swayed by the emotion of the ocean...see!! Even now!

susan
Beautiful poetry...your words are full of warmth, love, and memories. I love the metaphore, and the lines;
now I welcome low tide shadows
not those on sand
but here inside a memory...
Sounds like the experience is also embedded in your heart...for this poem is heartfelt. Beautiful...

A simply stated, classy write CJ. I enjoy this side of you...the side who writes for adults that is. You're obviously quite multi faceted! :-) Blessings, Michelle

What tender beauty this write imports, into the very soul of the reader...
Outstanding finish, in the last three lines!
