The Beautiful
Someday you’ll know what loneliness really is
All your work, your money, your activities won’t keep you from me
You’ll stop running – greet me face to face
You’ll be forced to give up this mad chase
Face it; it’s a fact of the human race.
I’m not so bad; I’m your friend,
And when you know the lonely, you’ll come to an end (of sorts)
Like a rare flower, alone on a rocky mountainside,
Or when you feel like that train whistle blowing thru the rainy night…
Then you’ll know me - love is lonely,
Like the sound of the ocean rolling way off past your bedside;
Or that spring morning, like a bird singing on the wire –
I say: you’ll know the lonely way –
Then you’ll know love is lonely,
Love is like the sound of one’s own melody,
Trying to play it up into your own little symphony,
You can’t wait for the answering call that never comes
You’ll know love is lonely; you’re one of “the Lonely Ones”
And it’s just facing yourself: playing your song: “The Beautiful.”

Trying to play it up into your own little symphony,
I truly love this poem; and I can completely relate to what you have expressed. You make a great deal of sense to me, Michael. Thank you. Love and peace to you,
Regis
It is "The Beautiful"
I love your last line as well. The title sort of gives it away, but it's a good title just the same. --Nicely done! --Charlie
