JAKE THE SNAKE Jake the Snake lived in a tree. He didn’t have a home you see. He tried to buy a house downtown, Nobody wanted him around. He tried to rent a city place, They said, “oh, no” right to his face! “Get out of town, get on the bus. You can’t stay here, you’re not like us! You’re not like us, you won’t fit in; Don’t try to move in here again!” So Jake the Snake lived in a tree, He wasn’t just like you or me. © Stan Swanson

Stan--I've got to say I used to have a snake named Jake--a ball python (they're a small snake) but I couldn't handle having to feed it rats. Anyway--I love your poem and the illustration, too. Thanks for sharing them.

sometimes it's hard being different and it hard being on the outside of the crowd, but with the help of a freind things can change,getting to know some who is different then us is sometimes fun...even if it is someone who lives right next door. LETS HELP THOSE WHO ARE DIFFERENT FROM US.. feel like they can be apart the group or crowd...
