I see willows
dancing in the high beams,
watching the night
cave in and the
world swirl to a beat
that bends and shakes
in time to the radio
There is a work
in my mind, left
dormant and cold
that has been warmed
What to do with the fire?
Where does the sun go
when you've chased
it away so many times?
The sax plays softly
to the rhythm of my
memory and that memory
can only bounce
electricity off the
towers illuminating
the sky
with archaic letters
and notes left in lunch pales
Where is that dream
and do I have it now?
In the recesses of my
thoughts that are so
afraid to feel again?
I pant and laugh
as the frogs chirp
under the door,
in the rusted hole
that was once a
floor where my
foot will step
and take me home.
The song...
their song
reminds me
that there is
hope and love
and beauty and
nights where
the lies that
voices of our past
have been
can not reach us
and I am comforted.
