What a masterpiece this is...you have managed in a very original way to have captured a fraction of Mary's angst in finding a way to express to Joseph that she has been chosen to carry the son of man. What many do not know is the reason Jesus had to be introduced this way as a human being "Man" is because of the need to identify him in the lineage of Abraham to comply with prophesy and promise to mankind by God. Jesus was already a creation of God well before the universe was created but had to come to earth to live among men to prove his understanding of mankinds gains and sacrifices in life since Adam and Eve sinned and made mankind imperfect through their offspring. The immaculate conception would be the seed of God (perfection) with the lack of sin in Mary in order for Jesus to be continued in perfection. You are an excellent writer and I am in awe.

Naturally, Poetess, this was a Christmas poem written in honor of Mary, giving birth to Jesus, and the turmoil and fear she may have been experiencing at be given such an incredible gift.

Did you give birth to another Christ? Or is this about Mary? Please pardon me for taking it so literal if it was not intended this way.

I love it when writers bring what has perhaps become thought of as mere traditional "myth" to life. Mary is a real, "ordinary" girl here whose thoughts might very well be our own. I've been told of the Church poster in Australia, I think, which endeavours to put Joseph's side of the story: bearing the picture of M&J in bed, contemporary-style, and dubbed with the words: "God is a hard act to follow"... I think this actually makes us stop and think about the realities of the Christmas story, but can understand how others might find it "in bad taste". Mary did have thoughts, How can this be, when I have not known man? Her yes helped change the world. Joseph was going to divorce her but an angel came to him and calmed his fears about the Baby Jesus in Mary's womb.
