Soft rose colored light
Sneaks into the darkness
Of my slumber
The sun is rising
And the lace curtain
Filters the now amber glow
In an intricate pattern
On the bedroom wall
I squint my eyes
Against this assault
Of brightness
That is here
To force me into
A new day
Outside the birds are beginning
Their morning serenade
But my ears crave
Ten more minutes
Of peaceful repose
The room grows brighter
I close me eyes tighter
Hoping to ward off
The blinding light
Then suddenly
The bird stops singing
Clouds hide the sun
Silence and gentle shadows
Have chased away the intruders
I slowly drift back off
Into peaceful much
Needed sleep
Then
Damn! The alarm!

Hah! I have a unique alarm, it has a name and the name is Zoe. Little bugger wakes me up every morning around five o'clock. At least it isn't getting daylight out, so I don't have that horrible light to blind me. Good writing.
