One of my older poems

A rose with razor thorns that slices through the heart,
fed by a river of tears as the loneleness does start.
A single phrase softly said starts this brand new game.
Welcome to the world of love, an exercise in pain.

A single rose dipped in blood serves to remind us all,
of how it feels to be in love and how it feels to fall.
A single kiss in the night where stars fall like rain,
begin again this thing called love, an exercise in pain.

A single whisper, soft as silk, echo in your head,
But memories last longer than love, and can haunt you until you are dead.
Three little words haunt your dreams and get into your brain,
when they are spoken untrue , it's an exercise in pain.

The world is full of people and theres plenty of fish in the sea,
but the pain of a blood dipped rose can hurt eternally.
The world is full of people, all going slowly insane.
They have been playing with the hearts once again, an exercise in pain.

Love denied, love betrayed, and love with out return.
It can chill your soul like ice, but in your memory burns.
Of all the dreams of true love, what is there to gain?
While standing blindly with a blood dipped rose, in an exercise in pain.

When dreams of lovers pressed in tightly in a passionate embrace,
disturb your dreams of solitude and set your heart a race.
When you are loved and it's not returned and when you love in pain,
You are playing your self for the fool in this exercise in pain.

It is when the pain seems to be more than you can stand.
When you see the one you love reaching for anothers hand.
Then you know the silent sound of a heart split in twain,
bieng ripped by the blood dipped rose, the exercise in pain.

When all is said and all is done and you softly weep,
with tearstained pillows and broken heart, one thought do you keep.
We try at love and fail at love but what we hope to gain,
is to find that special one to save us from an exercise in pain.
