“A true friend unbosoms freely, advises justly, assists readily, adventures boldly, takes all patiently, defends courageously and continues a friend unchangeably.” - William Penn
How many friends do we really have
In this journey we call life?
A friend that shares a secret feeling
Than waits patiently for advice.
Trusting that our words will offer healing,
To a heart broken much more than twice.
Maybe we have a real need and a friend
Shows up at the door.
Is that a coincidence… we wonder?
As our heart skips a beat and begins to soar.
What about the phone call that comes just in time; not too late.
From a friend knowing that we need adventure,
And for our presence, they’re willing to wait.
What about the friend, who understands when we are spiraling down,
And no matter how far we fall, they rush by our side and pull us around.
How many friends truly love us; defend our efforts and never change?
I believe that just one friend of that stature…
Would make life easier to travel the long range!

Psychologists have found out that we can only have four or five true friends in a lifetime. The rest are just acquaintances. If they happen upon us in a time of need, they become truer.
