Truth be told, to embrace our shared past, any remnant of what was, but never became, would require honoring your truth, beyond my knowing, which is to say, in so many words, I must think I suck, am so unworthy of brutal honesty, or complete closure, but I refuse to swallow that.

Anne, I think I am going to commission you to write any and all break-up letters for me from now on. The essence you've captured here is just gut naked reality. That which you do not swallow, works out very well in print nevertheless.
